Viticulture - Planned treatments - Traceability

The Moulin de Ciffre vines are pruned in the traditional way: goblet pruned for the old Cinsault and Grenache, and trellised and tied up for more recent plantings.

The main soil treatment consists of ploughing and composting, the latter being slowly decomposed by the micro-organisms in the soil, thus feeding the vines a very limited but regular way.

Vine diseases: mildew and odium, and parasites are controlled using planned farming techniques. Checks and regular counting of parasites reduce treatment to an absolute minimum. The techniques are chosen to optimise consumer safety and protect the environmentt.

This approach, checked by an outside body and certified by the Terra Vitis label, also enables the Moulin de Ciffre to maintain exact records ensuring perfect traceability of all action taken in each vineyard throughout the year.

Removing the leaves and thinning the grapes adjust the output in the light of the specific climatic conditions each year, thus optimising the ripeness of the grapes in each vineyard.
